No. 9 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Saturday Tri-Match With Victories Over Hunter, Rosemont

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The ninth-ranked Arcadia University men's volleyball team swept through Saturday's tri-match at Alumni Gymnasium, taking a 3-1 decision over Hunter before concluding the afternoon with a straight-sets victory over Rosemont. The Knights had several key performers across the two matches, and set a new season-best, single-match hitting percentage mark in the win over Rosemont, posting a .431 mark, along with a season-high 19 service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights dropped the first set to the Hawks, 25-18. The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead from Arcadia errors, and after the two teams went back-and-forth, a combined seven kills from senior Robie Moctezuma and junior Quinn Baily were not enough to bring the Knights within reach.

-After trailing 12-9 in the second set, a kill and a service ace from sophomore Collin Nissley as well as a kill from senior Austin Braas tied up the set. The Knights went on a four-point run with a kill and a service ace from senior Jarod Pichler, along with an attack error by the Hawks and blocks from Braas and Quinn. The Knights and Hawks were tied at 20, but the Scarlet and Grey went on a 5-1 run to take the second set.

-Arcadia and Hunter exchanged a point each in the beginning of the third set before the Knights went on a huge 10-0 run, including three service aces from Nissley, to pull ahead 11-1. The Knights didn't look back, and won the third set, 25-12.

-The Scarlet and Grey jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth set behind kills from Nissley, Braas, and Baily. The Hawks began a comeback effort at the end of the set and trailed 23-22, but two errors sealed the 25-22 third set and match win for Arcadia.

-Arcadia posted a .274 hitting percentage while the Hawks logged a .193 mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Arcadia jumped out to a 7-0 lead, largely thanks to five-consecutive service aces from freshman Owen Heft. Later in the set, up 20-7, Heft tacked on two more service aces before the Knights took the first set 25-9 with kills from Nissley and senior Angelo Giuffrida.

-The Knights began the second set with a 9-0 run, including two service aces from freshman Tiago Portela and two kills from Giuffrida. After giving up two points to the Ravens, freshman Dylan Zimmerman tallied four service aces and a kill, while classmate Kevin Abraham added a kill of his own to help Arcadia go up 17-2. Kills from Nissley, Zimmerman, and freshman Luke Bucksar sealed the second set victory.

-The Scarlet and Grey began the third set with a commanding 11-0 run; freshmen Zimmerman, Heft, and Bucksar combined for five points over the run. Arcadia increased its lead to 18-1 with two service aces from senior Evan Misal. The Knights ended the third and final set with four-straight points, including a kill from Bucksar, to seal the match victory.
