SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team was unable to climb out of an early first-half deficit Wednesday night at Swarthmore, falling to the host Garnet, 17-8. The Knights got two goals apiece out of
Brian Albertsen,
Ryan Anderson, and
Wesley Sporer in the effort, while goalie
Timmy Fyock turned in another 20-plus save night on 61 shots faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Swarthmore started the night with a pair of goals in the game's first four minutes, but Anderson cut the Garnet lead in half with the Knights' first goal at the 10-minute mark of the opening quarter. However, the Garnet reeled off four-straight scores by the end of the quarter and, despite tallies from both Sporer and
Brady Manion in the second quarter, the Knights trailed by eight heading into the break.
-The Knights attempted to climb back into the game with two quick scores in the first five-plus minutes of the second half as Albertsen and Anderson provided back-to-back unassisted scores. Albertsen netted his second of the night at the 4:02 mark of the third quarter before
Justin Brown converted on a man-up opportunity for his first goal of the season, but the Garnet netted three scores of their own to halt the rally.
-Sporer netted the Knights' lone tally in the final quarter at the 7:21 mark, but Swarthmore added three more over the course of the final 15 minutes of regulation to come away with the 17-8 victory.
