BALTIMORE, Md. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team got out to a fast start offensively and finished strong in a high-scoring affair Saturday afternoon at Goucher, using ten different goal-scorers to take down the host Gophers, 21-13. After trailing by one late in the third quarter, the Knights ripped off nine unanswered goals the rest of the way while shutting out Goucher in the final quarter.
Clo Muscara led the way with five goals and three assists, while
Ryan Anderson,
Brian Albertsen, and
Wesley Sporer all finished the day with hat tricks.
Brady Manion netted two goals and added four assists for six points in the effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights got off to a torrid start offensively, netting eight goals in the first quarter to take an early 8-4 lead. Anderson started the scoring just over a minute into the game, but the host Gophers answered back to take a 4-3 lead at the 7:57 mark. Arcadia ended the quarter with five unanswered goals from five different players, as Muscara, Sporer,
James Barretta,
Jackson Earley and
JP Shaaber all found the back of the net in the final six minutes of the opening period.
-Goucher cut the Knight lead to one at the halfway point of the second quarter, 9-8, but unassisted tallies from Anderson and Albertsen before the half vaulted the Knights to a three-goal lead a the break, 11-8.
-The Gophers ripped off four-straight scores to begin the second half and regain a 12-11 advantage, but Sporer knotted the contest at 12-all with just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter before Goucher answered back 20 seconds later to take back the lead. The Gophers' go-ahead goal at the 5:31 mark was the last score they would have on the afternoon, as Muscara and Albertsen went back-to-back in the final 22 seconds of the quarter before the Knights blanked Goucher in the fourth while netting seven-straight scores in the final quarter. Albertsen's tally with 15 seconds left in the third proved to be game-winning goal, vaulting the Knights to a 14-13 lead.
-Muscara and
Brady Manion each netted a pair of goals in the fourth while
Josh Keitz and
Joe Pedisich added single tallies to pad the Knights' lead late, resulting in a 21-13 victory.

-Arcadia outpaced the Gophers in shots, 60-37.
-The Knights caused 21 turnovers while only committing 13 of their own.
-Arcadia was a perfect 17-for-17 on clear attempts, while limiting Goucher to 15-for-21.
-The Knights also held the advantage in faceoff wins, 21-16.
