CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Arcadia University field hockey team used four second-half goals to win its second-consecutive MAC Freedom matchup Saturday afternoon at DeSales, 4-0.
Morganne Dee paced the offense with a pair of goals while Caeley Letersky and
Ashlyn Barton both netted a goal each in the effort.
Gracie Fenner posted another shutout in net with eight saves in the effort for the Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Both defensive units stood tall in the opening quarter to keep the game scoreless despite six total shots between the two sides. The offensive chances began to pick up in the second quarter as the Knights and Bulldogs combined for 13 shots, but Fenner came up with four saves to send the game to halftime in a scoreless deadlock.
-The Knights broke through with the game's first goal just 70 seconds into the second half as Caeley Letersky collected a loose ball off a deflection in front of the cage and sent it past the goalie to give Arcadia the only lead they needed on the afternoon. Less than five minutes later, Dee followed up her shot off of the keeper and found the back of the net for her first of two goals on the day. Moments later,
Morgan McEntire's chance on net was met with a save, but Dee was there to clean it up to extend the Knight lead to three.
-The Arcadia defense limited the Bulldogs to only six shots in the second half en route to the shutout victory, while
Ashlyn Barton put the finishing touches on the 4-0 victory with her first career goal in the fourth quarter after
Autumn Gahman's offering to the near post found the first-year in front of the cage who put the finishing touches on the play.
