GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team picked up an important conference victory with a 3-0 win over King's College on Wednesday night. The Knights improved their conference record to 4-3 with just one conference battle remaining.
Michelle Frank paced the Knights offense with 13 kills, while
Danielle Doyle and
Haylee Harper added nine and eight kills, respectively.
Estefanía Martínez-Solá also put together a strong performance for the Knights with a game-high 30 assists and three kills to go along with four digs and four service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights remained in control of the first set with a commanding 25-14 victory. The Monarchs kept the match close as they pulled within three points midway through the set, 16-13. However, the Knights ended the stanza with a 9-1 run to put away the Monarchs. Frank tallied three kills during the Knights run while Doyle and Martinez-Sola each added two aces.
- Arcadia continued its momentum in the second set as they put together a 12-1 run to take a commanding 16-4 lead. The Monarchs wouldn't go away as they clawed back into the game to pull within four points, 23-19. However, the Knights stood strong as they closed the set with two Monarchs attack errors to take the stanza, 25-20.
- The Knights wrapped up the game in the third set with another 25-20 set victory. After a competitive start to the final set, the Knights gained some distance with five unanswered points to pull ahead by seven, 12-5. The Monarchs clawed their way back into the game as they narrowed their deficit to three points towards the end of the set, but the Knights were able to maintain the lead throughout the set.
