Women’s Basketball Falls After Late Swarthmore Run

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to Swarthmore University, 64-51, after a big fourth quarter propelled the Garnet to victory on Friday night. 

Julia Makowski tallied a team-high with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists to lead the Knights, while Scarlett Glasser-Nehls added nine points. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights gained a first quarter lead with five unanswered points midway through the stanza. Sidney Barrer started the run with a layup after she gained an extra possession for Arcadia with an offensive rebound. Ally Zolty drained a three-pointer on the team's following possession to take a six point lead. Later in the quarter, Zolty sunk a buzzer beater to give the Knights a 19-14 lead after one quarter. 

- The Garnet opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to take a three point advantage, 22-19. Swarthmore expanded its lead to as many as ten points with 2:45 remaining in the half. The Knights climbed back into the game with a 7-2 run to cut its deficit in half to end the quarter, 33-28.

- Arcadia ended the third quarter on an 11-4 run to overtake the lead from the Garnet. Barrer and Makowski added back-to-back baskets to give the Knights a lead, 40-39. After Swarthmore retook the lead with a minute remaining in the quarter, Joanna Giustino closed out the quarter with a three to put the Knights ahead by two points, 43-41.

- Glasser-Nehls and Holly Daveski opened the quarter with back-to-back buckets to put the Knights ahead by six points. However, Swarthmore answered with a 21-2 run to regain the lead for good, 62-49.
