GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team was topped by Gwynedd Mercy, 79-64, on Tuesday night in the Battle of 309. After entering the fourth quarter with the lead, the Knights were outscored 25-4 in the final frame.
Senior guard
Julia Makowski led the Knights offensively with a season-high 22 points on 8-of-22 shooting. She knocked down three triples for the Knights in the loss. Two players for Arcadia tallied double-digit rebound totals as
Sidney Barrer (13), and
Mara Weaver (10) led the Knights efforts on the boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights opened up a 16-8 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Griffins would close their deficit to two, but Arcadia scored four of the final five points of the quarter to take a 20-15 lead into the second quarter.
- Gwynedd Mercy began the second quarter strong, opening up a five point lead, 33-28. The Knights would end the frame on a 14-3 run to take a six point lead, 42-36 into halftime.
- The third quarter was a back and forth frame as both teams scored 18 points in the stanza.
- Arcadia entered the final quarter with a six point advantage, but that was quickly erased by the Griffins, as they scored the first 18 points of the fourth quarter. Gwynedd Mercy continued that momentum throughout the final minutes to win the Battle of 309.
