Women's Basketball Stays Unbeaten with Win at Misericordia, 56-45

Dallas, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team continued its hot streak and improved to 3-0 with a win on the road against Misericordia, 56-45, on Friday night. 

The Knights were guided by starters Julia Makowski, Taylor Fritz and Scarlett Glasser-Nehls who came out of the gate firing on all cylinders with a combined 48 points. Makowski led all scorers with 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Fritz had a terrific night posting a season-high 16 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, while Glasser-Nehls added a career-high 14 points and seven rebounds. 

Sidney Barrer had an all around night putting up four points, three steals and two assists in the win over the Cougars. Holly Daveski had a strong performance on the glass notching nine rebounds, while Maria Tully played 17 minutes for the Knights. 
 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights started out hot going on a 13-0 run with a three from Makowski and a pair of layups for Glasser-Nehls. Misericordia then responded with a 10-0 run to cut the Knights lead to three points after the opening stanza, 13-10.

- In the second quarter, Arcadia quickly grew their lead as Fritz and Barrer knocked down three-point shots, 19-12. The Knights and Cougars continued to battle throughout the quarter, but the constant pressure from Arcadia, along with an acrobatic layup from Makowski, would give Arcadia a 10-point lead going into the half, 30-20. 

- The Knights opened the second half rolling as a Fritz jumper pushed the lead to 13 points with 7:02 remaining. Arcadia would end a back-and-forth quarter up ten points, 39-29. Makowski had five points in the quarter, while Fritz accounted for the other two scores.


- After a quick 5-0 run from the Cougars to cut their deficit to six, the Knights pushed back as Fritz netted six points in the quarter. Makowski sealed the game with a pair of clutch free throws to boost Arcadia over Misericordia.

TEAM COMPARISON
- The Knights shot 44.9 percent (22-for-49) from the field, while holding the Cougars to 31.7 percent (19-for-60). 
- Arcadia was dominant on the glass, out-rebounding the Cougars 44-29.

The Knights (3-0) close out their two-game series tomorrow versus Misericordia University in Glenside. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
