GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's volleyball team ran its current win streak to four Wednesday night with a straight-sets victory over Alvernia. Collin Nissley led the Knights offensively with ten kills while Ryan Miller added a season-high nine in Arcadia's third straight-sets victory of the season.
Anthony Devantier logged a match-high 32 assists while Dylan Zimmerman led both sides with four service aces - three of which came consecutively in the first set.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The opening set was all Arcadia in Wednesday night's midweek matchup as Ryan Miller and Collin Nissley combined for five of the Knights' first seven kills, with Devantier assisting on 6-of-7. Dylan Zimmerman's three-consecutive aces sparked the Knights to take a set-high nine-point lead and fended off an Alvernia comeback to take the opener, 25-20.
-Arcadia started the second set in similar fashion to take an early advantage before Nissley provided a kill and assisted on a block with Kevin Abraham that erupted the Knight bench and resulted in a 16-8 lead. The Golden Wolves put up a fight in the latter stages of the set, but a pair of Owen Heft kills led to a 25-16 victory.
-The Knights trailed early in the third set but wasted no time getting back in contention with consecutive kills from Heft and Devantier to swing the advantage back to Arcadia, 9-8. With the two sides tied at 11, a long back-and-forth rally ensued that resulted in a huge block assist between Devantier and Miller to take back the lead. Arcadia went on to lead the rest of the way and Nissley capped off the third and final set with a solo block to secure the 25-16 victory.
