Dominant Fourth Quarter Leads Women's Basketball to Thrilling Comeback

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team outscored Widener University 17-4 in the fourth quarter on the road to a thrilling comeback victory, 56-52, on Thursday night. The Pride's fourth quarter total was the fewest points the Knights have allowed in a single quarter all season.

Taylor Fritz led the way with a team-high 16 points, while shooting 8-for-9 from the field. Julia Makowski added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Makowski drilled a three-pointer to give the Knights an early lead, while Scarlett Glasser-Nehls added a bucket to expand the squad's lead to five points, 9-4. Widener fought back to take the lead with an 8-2 run to end the quarter, 18-16.

- After a back-and-forth opening to the second quarter, the Pride were able to establish a lead midway through the stanza. Widener scored eight unanswered points, while closing the quarter on another 8-2 run to expand its lead to six points, 31-25.

- Widener expanded its lead to a game-high 11 points, which prompted the Knights to take a timeout with 6:10 remaining in the third. Following a 30-second timeout, Arcadia responded with buckets on three-straight possessions for a quick 6-0 run. However, the Pride were able to build their advantage back to a game-high 11 points, while closing out the quarter up nine points, 48-39.

- After a tough ending to the third quarter, the Knights responded with some of their best basketball of the season - holding the Pride to four fourth quarter points. Fritz opened the frame with a driving layup, while a Holly Daveski and-one layup trimmed the Knights deficit to four points, 48-44. First-year standouts Glasser-Nehls and Maria Tully then provided buckets on consecutive possessions, while Daveski gave the Knights the lead with 4:55 remaining.

- After an Arcadia 13-0 run, Widener scored their first bucket of the quarter with 1:38 remaining, but it was too late as Glasser-Nehls and Makowski each hit one free throw to seal the victory.
