GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell at Lycoming College, 64-56, to split its season series on Friday night.
Julia Makowski paced the Knights with a career-high 27 points with five three-pointers and five rebounds.
Holly Daveski also reached double figures with 11 points, while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights and Warriors went back-and-forth in a closely-contested opening quarter, which featured three lead changes and four ties. Makowski gave the Knights their first lead of the game on a layup with 4:12 remaining. However, Lycoming would end the opening stanza with a two-point advantage, 15-13.
- Lycoming opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run, before
Sidney Barrer hit two free throws to stop the Warriors rally with 3:24 remaining. The Knights were able to bring their deficit back to single digits with a Makowski three-pointer and
Scarlett Glasser-Nehls layup, but Lycoming would respond with the final five points of the half, 34-20.
- After a slow start to the second half, the Knights clawed back into the game with an 11-0 run to end the quarter. During the squad's three-minute stretch, Makowski hit a pivotal three-pointer, which was followed by a Glasser-Nehls jumper to pull the Knights within six points after three quarters, 46-40.
- Makowski brought the Knights within five points after a layup with 2:21 remaining. However, the Warriors answered with consecutive buckets to expand its lead to a comfortable nine points with 1:21 remaining in regulation.
