HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After an unearned run in the first gave the Aggies their first lead of the day, the Knights answered right back in the top of the second to even the game at one via an
Allison LaRochelle sac fly. The Knights took their first lead of game two when
Madi Costigan scored on a wild pitch in the fourth before striking for four runs in the fifth to take commanding lead. Three straight singles to start the inning loaded the bases for
Brooke Ward, who plated Sooy from third with a sac fly to left before
Xanthe Jamanis lined a single to left-center to plate the second run of the frame. Following a run-scoring groundout off the bat of Pscolka, Costigan capped the inning with an infield hit to extend the Knight lead to five.
-
Brenna Dolan and
Juliana Presto combined to limit the Aggies to an unearned run and two hits in the circle, as Presto came on in relief to toss the final five innings while striking out a season-high ten to earn the win. Presto retired 12 of the first 13 batters she faced and did not allow a hit until her final inning of work, but responded by striking out the final three hitters in the seventh.
-Burge delivered the Knights' third three-run home run of the day in the top of the seventh before Ward plated Arcadia's 26th and final run of the afternoon with an RBI single to put the final touches on the 11-1 win and doubleheader sweep.
