Schwind Becomes Program’s Career Strikeout Leader, Softball Sweeps Delaware Valley

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team completed a four-game sweep against Delaware Valley University with a home double-header sweep, 12-0 and 8-2, on Wednesday night. Kylee Schwind became the program's all-time leader in career strikeouts with 349 – surpassing 2016 graduate Erin Wilson.
 
Schwind tallied five strikeouts in tonight's opener, while tossing five-shutout innings. The graduate student reached the career milestone in the fifth inning when she struck out an Aggie swinging with one out.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Alexis Burge plated the game's first run with an error by the left fielder, while Megan Sooy and Alexa Vardiman added back-to-back RBI for Arcadia.
 
- Madi Costigan smacked a one-out double to left field to start a second inning rally. The first-year then scored from second on a single up the middle from Burge. Vardiman then plated Burge with a single up the middle, but was tossed out trying to extend her single to a double, 5-0.
 
- Arcadia put up a crooked six runs in the third inning. Kayla Pscolka scored on an error after reaching base with a leadoff double. Shannon Shea then drove home a run with a single up the middle, while Costigan worked a bases-loaded walk to plate one more. Later in the inning, Vardiman and Pscolka added consecutive RBI singles to cap off the rally, 11-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware Valley plated the game's first runs with two in the first inning. The Aggies kept the Knights' bats silent for three-shutout innings, 2-0.
 
- Arcadia rallied for five runs in the third inning to take the lead. Burge walked with the bases loaded to open the scoring, while Sooy plated two more with a single to left field. Pscolka then doubled to left field to add on two insurance runs, 5-2.
 
- The Knights added two runs in the fifth inning with a two-run double from Burge. Allison LaRochelle then collected her first-career extra base hit with an RBI double to left field, 8-2.
 
- Brenna Dolan settled in after the first inning with six scoreless to end the game. The junior struck out a season-high 10 batters and allowed just one earned run.
