GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia Men's and Women's Swimming programs opened the 2021 MAC Virtual Swimming Championships Friday night at Lenox Pool and set the tone for the weekend in a big way with a number of record-breaking swims throughout the evening.
The Arcadia 'A' contingent of
Emily Raedisch,
Grace Brooks,
Risa Krauss, and
Julia Stephens posted a time of 1:40.82 in the 200 Freestyle Relay to kick off the meet, which currently ranks as a top-50 NCAA Division III mark according to CollegeSwimming. Krauss went on to swim to a personal-best and Lenox Pool record time of 2:14.10 in the 200 IM.
In the same event on the men's side,
Janis Kirsis raced to a 1:54.81, setting a new personal-best and Lenox Pool record in the process.
The women's 400 Medley Relay team of Stephens, Raedisch, Brooks, and
Kira Alderman raced to a 4:06.60 to take down the previous Lenox Pool mark of 4:15.58 set during the 2015. season. Within that same race, Stephens' opening 100 backstroke split of 58.98 also topped Arcadia's previous record of 59.05.
In the final event of the day, the men's 400 Medley Relay team of Kirsis,
Kevin Foley,
Carlos Pinga, and
George Wade posted a 3:34.91 to earn yet another pool record for the Knights, besting the previous mark of 3:47.04. Similar to the women's side, the opening 100 backstroke leg (52.30) from Kirsis broke the his own previous program record.
The Knights look to continue the momentum on Saturday for day two of the championship meet at Lenox Pool, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
