Baseball Sweeps Delaware Valley, Young Bats Lead Offense to Dominating Victory in Finale

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Arcadia University baseball team swept its double-header at Delaware Valley on Saturday. The Knights held on to beat the Aggies, 6-5, in the opener, before cruising to an 18-1 victory in the finale.

The Knights' young bats led the way in game two with first-year members combining for 11 RBI, while contributing 14 RBI on the afternoon. Joseph Kumar led the group with a team-best four hits and 3 RBI in the finale, while Emilio Pallante and Nick Bon Tempo also added three RBI. Aaron Oswalt put together a solid day at the plate with two hits and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights strung together five runs in the first inning to give their pitching staff an early cushion. Alex Madera and Justin Massielo worked consecutive one-out walks to start the rally. Madera later came home to score on an Aggies fielding error, while Massielo was plated on a passed ball. Pallante and Gregory Hamrick II added to the big inning with three more two-out RBI. Pallante drove home one run with a knock to the left side, while Hamrick brought home two more with a double, 5-0.

- Delaware Valley got two runs back in the second inning. The Aggies added consecutive RBI singles, before Hunter Curley escaped the jam with a bases-loaded strikeout to limit the damage, 5-2. Arcadia deescalated another threat in the fourth inning when Hamrick tossed out a runner trying to steal third base to end the inning.

- Arcadia added one run in the fifth inning on an RBI double from Zachary Sekelick, 6-2. Kumar worked a one-out walk and then stole second base to put himself in scoring position. Sekelick then sent a 3-2 pitch down the left field line to plate Kumar, 6-2.

- Adam Maser got three big outs for the Knights in the fifth inning. After the Aggies opened the inning with back-to-back singles, Maser generated three quick outs to silence Delaware Valley's threat. Maser induced a fly out to retire the first batter, before striking out the next batter swinging while Hamrick caught a runner stealing second base on the pitch.

- The Aggies added three runs in the sixth inning to pull within one run, 6-5. Owen Margolis successfully escaped a two-out jam with the tying run on second base. Margolis retired the only batter he faced in the sixth with an inning-ending strikeout. The junior then retired the Aggies in order to complete the four-out save.
