GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team battled back from first-quarter, five-goal deficit to pull off a 14-9 victory over Delaware Valley in the sixth meeting of the Battle for the Bucks-Mont Hammer Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field - the Knights' second-consecutive win and fourth overall in the series.
Clo Muscara paced the Knights with a game-high four goals while
Billy Burton and
Justin Chinici added two tallies of their own.
The Knights outscored the Aggies 12-2 over the final three quarters, including a shutout of the visitors in the final quarter to seal the win in the MAC Freedom regular season finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Wesley Sporer opened the scoring Saturday with his 13th goal of the season on an assist from
JP Shaaber two minutes into the game before
Joe Pedisich found the back of the net just over a minute later, backing down a defender in front of the crease before beating the goalie in the upper left corner of the net. The Aggies responded with six unanswered goals to the end of the quarter, leaving the Knights facing a five-goal deficit after one.
-The Knights began to rally back with three-straight scores of their own to open the second quarter coming from
Ryan Anderson,
Brady Manion, and Muscara. DelVal broke the run with its only goal of the quarter at the five-minute mark before Sporer found Burton in front of the net who did the rest, sending Arcadia to halftime trailing, 8-6.
-After the two sides traded goals in the first five minutes of the second half, Burton began a stretch of five-straight Knight goals with a man-up tally.
Justin Chinici then netted consecutive scores to give the Knights their first lead since the opening quarter ahead of
Evan Scott and Muscara tallies to extend the lead to three heading into the final quarter, 12-9.
-The Arcadia defense held the Aggies scoreless for the final 26-plus minutes to run away with the game late, as
Timmy Fyock made eight saves over the final two quarters. Muscara netted his fourth and final goal of the afternoon in the opening minute of the fourth before
Brian Albertsen netted his 32nd goal of the year with the Knights' last tally in the 14-9 win.
