Men's Lacrosse Drops Back-and-Forth Battle at Widener, 18-16

CHESTER, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team fell in an offensive shootout at Widener Saturday in a non-conference matchup, 18-16, despite a season-high five goals from Clo Muscara and four more from Brian Albertsen. Albertsen's fourth goal of the game to open the fourth quarter gave the Knights a 16-15 lead, but the Pride rallied for three unanswered goals to come away with the victory.

Muscara had a game-high seven points on the day, while Wesley Sporer also posted a hat trick in the effort. Justin Chinici assisted on four tallies while Timmy Fyock kept the Knights in the game all afternoon with 22 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights and Pride set the tone early for Saturday's non-conference matchup, with both sides scoring two goals each in the first five minutes in what amounted to a total of 13 total tallies in the first quarter. Muscara completed his hat trick in the first quarter alone, with his third score giving the Knights a 7-6 lead at the end of the period.

-After a Joe Pedisich goal opened the second-quarter scoring for Arcadia, Widener rallied to take a 10-8 lead with consecutive tallies. Sporer and Muscara answered with back-to-back goals within 30 seconds of each other - with Muscara's coming on a man-up opportunity - before the Knights drew even with Widener heading into halftime thanks to back-to-back man-up tallies from Brian Albersen with Justin Chinici assiting on both.

-The Pride opened the second half with three-straight scores to take a 15-12 lead, but the Knights battled back with three unanswered of their own to tie the game as Sporer, Albertsen, and Muscara all found the back of the net - two of which came during man-up opportunities to contribute to a 6-for-11 conversion rate for the Knights in those situations on the day.

-Albertsen pushed the Knights ahead, 16-15, with his fourth goal of the day to open the fourth quarter, but the Pride struck for three unanswered goals to retake the lead and kept Arcadia off the board down the stretch to hang on for the 18-16 win.
