St. Davids, Pa. - The Arcadia women's volleyball team dropped its season opener in straight sets to Easton University on Wednesday night. Seven different Knights recorded a kill in the defeat.
Estefanía Martínez-Solá led the Knights with 12 assists and Grace Kraft recorded 10 digs to lead the Arcadia defensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first frame was a set of runs. Eastern got out to an early 7-3 lead. The Knights called a timeout with Eastern leading 13-9. Arcadia then won the next two points out of the timeout, but Eastern would take five of the next six to take control of the set. Eastern would go on to win the first set, 25-18.

The two teams were deadlocked through the first half of the second set, trading the lead back and forth until Eastern took a timeout. Eastern took the final six points of the second set to win it, 25-20, and a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Arcadia took the first four points of the set, but Eastern stormed back with seven consecutive of its own, leading to a Knights timeout. The two teams would trade points back and forth, until Eastern used two separate 4-0 runs to win the set, 25-13, giving them the straight sets victory.

The Knights return to action on Friday, Sept. 3 as they travel to the SUNY Cortland Tournament. Arcadia will play four games over the course of the weekend.
