Men's Soccer Bounces Back at Albright, Warren Scores First-Career Goal

READING, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team bounced back after yesterday's tough defeat with a 2-0 victory at Albright College on Sunday afternoon. Steven Warren tallied his first-career goal, while Matt Berndlmaier added an insurance goal for his second goal in the last three games. Senior goalkeeper Jake Varrato also put together another stellar performance for his first shutout of the 2021 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights defense fought off an early Albright scoring opportunity in the second minute. Following a corner kick, the Lions played the ball on goal, but had the attempt deflected away by a Mark Hurford header. Varrato went on to make two more saves an opening half that was mostly controlled by the Knights offense.

- Warren opened the scoring in the 20th minute with his first career goal. The first-year carried the ball into the box, beat two defenders and fired a strike on goal, which snuck by the Lions' goalkeeper.  Warren remained aggressive all afternoon as he tallied six shots with two attempts on goal.

- The Knights locked up its defense in the second half, outshooting the Lions 12-1 while not allowing a shot on goal.

- Berndlmaier added on an insurance goal in the 80th minute for his second goal in the last three games. The senior back collected his team-leading fifth point of the season, while Duncan O'Connor added his first point of the season with an assist on the play.
