GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team defeated Cairn University, 2-1, in double overtime on Tuesday at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.
First year back Troy Toohey scored the game-winner for the Knights in the 103rd minute. Senior midfielder Daniel Tilttelmayer whipped a ball across the goal and Toohey ran to the back post and hit the back of the net to give Arcadia its first win of the season.
After conceding an early goal, senior goalkeeper Jake Varrato made seven saves in the win, including a huge save in the 74th minute to keep the score level at one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Cairn opened the scoring in the match in the 11th minute, as the Highlanders sent a cross into the box, the ball bounced around and Cairn finished into an empty net to take a 1-0 lead.

In the 58th minute, the Knights earned a free kick on the edge of the box. Graduate student Matt Berndlmeier stepped up to take it and put it in the top right corner of the goal to tie the game at one.

In the 88th minute, Easton Shelley of Cairn was shown a red card to send the Highlanders down to 10 men.

After a scoreless first half of extra time, the Knights found the winner as Toohey finished at the back post to give Arcadia the win.
