GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team defeated Penn State Berks, 3-1, on Thursday night inside Alumni Gymnasium.
The Knights record improves to 15-5 with the victory.
Estefania Martinez-Sola recorded a double-double, tallying a team-high 12 kills and adding 13 assists. Kelsi Warner also had a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs. Grace Kraft tallied a season-high 25 digs to lead the Arcadia defense.
ARCADIA 3, PENN STATE BERKS 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Penn State Berks 18: Penn State Berks had an early 8-5 lead, but Arcadia won six of the next seven points to take an 11-9 lead. The Nittany Lions bounced back to tie the set at 13, but Arcadia won five straight points, giving them an 18-13 lead. Arcadia maintained its lead through the rest of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Penn State Berks 22: Penn State Berks had a 13-9 lead, but the Knights won four straight points to tie the set at 13. After the Nittany Lions won the next point to retake the lead, Arcadia went on a 7-2 run to take a 20-16 lead. Penn State Berks got within a point, 21-20, but the Knights won four of the final six points of the frame to take a two set lead in the match.
Set 3: Penn State Berks 25, Arcadia 23: A back and forth beginning led to the set being tied at 15. The teams continued to trade points until the late stages of the set. The Knights had a late 22-21 lead, but the Nittany Lions won four of the final five points to extend the match.
Set 4: Arcadia 25, Penn State Berks 15: The Nittany Lions had a 12-11 lead, but Arcadia won five straight points, and eventually ended the set on a 13-4 run to take the set and win the match.
