MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team fell to Montclair State, 3-1, on Thursday night.
The Knights fall to 14-4 on the season with the defeat.
Michelle Frank tallied 12 kills for the Knights. Both Estefania Martinez-Sola and Kelsi Warner recorded a double-double. Martinez-Sola had 14 assists and 12 digs and Warner had 18 assists and 10 digs.
MONTCLAIR STATE 3, ARCADIA 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Montclair State 19: The Knights opened an early 11-6 lead. Montclair State then won six of the next seven points to tie the set at 12. Arcadia took three consecutive points to retake the lead, 18-15. After the Red Hawks cut the Arcadia lead to one, the Knights went on a 7-1 run, giving it a 23-16 advantage. The Knights went on to take the opening frame and a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Montclair State 25, Arcadia 11: The set was tied at three, but Montclair State took eight consecutive points, taking an 11-3 lead. The Red Hawks continued their momentum throughout the rest of the set to tie the match at one.
Set 3: Montclair State 25, Arcadia 18: The Red Hawks opened up an early 8-4 lead, and expanded on that lead through a 7-0 run, giving them a 15-4 lead. Arcadia went on a late 4-0 run but Montclair State took a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4: Montclair State 26, Arcadia 24: The Knights got out to a 13-7 lead in the fourth frame. Montclair State tied the set through a 12-6 run. Arcadia then answered back, winning two straight points, but the Red Hawks ended the set on a 7-3 run to win the match.
