Late Run Not Enough as Arcadia Women's Basketball Falls to King's on Senior Day
 
GLENSIDE – Trailing by 13 points at 48-35 with eight minutes left in regulation, the Arcadia University women's basketball team went on a 15-2 run to tie the game at 50 with just over two minutes remaining, but a 7-2 run to end the game was the difference against King's College on Saturday afternoon in a 57-52 defeat in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action inside Alumni Gymnasium.
 
The Knights finish the regular season at 7-9 in conference play and 7-16 overall.
 
Arcadia started the contest on an 8-2 run forcing King's to use a 30 second timeout with 6:03 remaining in the first quarter. Mara Weaver led the way on the early run with four points on a jumper and layup.
 
The Knights pushed their lead to 10 at 15-5 with 1:40 left in the quarter, but the Monarchs used a 5-0 run over the final 90 seconds to make the tally 15-10 after the initial ten minutes of play.
 
King's began the second quarter on an 11-1 run to take a 21-16 advantage with 5:01 until halftime. The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the half, with the scored tied at 27 after the first 20 minutes.
 
Weaver gave Arcadia the lead with the first bucket of the third quarter but the Monarchs went on a 14-0 run to race out to a 41-29 lead with just under five minutes on the clock. The Knights cut the score to 41-35 on buckets by Scarlett Glasser-Nehls, Sidney Barrer, and Weaver before the Monarchs hit a jumper at the buzzer, making the score 43-35 after three quarters.
 
King's began the fourth on a 5-0 run to reach the 13 point advantage, leading to the Arcadia run at the end of the game.
 
Julia Makowski led the Knights with 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Weaver added 17 points and five rebounds while Barrer contributed 10 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double.
 
Emily Kriston led King's with 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Samantha Rajza added 16 points to round out the double-digit scorers.
 
Arcadia now heads to the MAC Freedom tournament when it returns to action on Wednesday as the No. 6 seed, traveling to King's, the No. 3 seed for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
