Weaver Finishes with Double-Double for Women's Basketball

GLENSIDE – A game-high 19-point, 11-rebound double-double from
Mara Weaver highlighted the day as the Arcadia University women's basketball team lost its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup with Misericordia University inside Alumni Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon by a 60-47 final.

The Knights are now 4-7 in league play and 6-14 overall while the Cougars improved to 12-10 overall, 7-5 in conference.

Misericordia began the game on a 16-4 run before a
Holly Daveski layup and a Weaver three-pointer cut the deficit to 16-9 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. Arcadia would trim the lead to six after another Weaver three-pointer made the score 18-12, which is where the first 10 minutes ended.

The Cougars started the second quarter much like the first, going on a 10-2 run over the first three-plus minutes of the quarter. Arcadia found itself trailing 38-24 as the halftime horn sounded.

Misericordia pushed its lead to 15 at 43-28 100 seconds into the second half, but it was all Knights for the remainder of the quarter as Arcadia went on a 6-0 run thanks to a
Scarlett Glasser-Nehls jumer, another Weaver three-pointer, and a free-throw from Weaver. However, the Knights found themselves facing a 43-34 deficit going into the final ten minutes.

Arcadia got as close as five points, trailing 45-41 after a
Julia Makowski layup, but the Cougars finished the game on a 15-6 run.

The Knights were led by Weaver, who finished 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc and set a new career-high for rebounds. Glasser-Nehls totaled nine points and four assists while Makowski went for eight points, nine rebounds, and three assists.

Misericordia was led by Morgan Haefele and Alyssa Bondi, who each finished with 18 points. Haefele added six assists for the Cougars.

Arcadia returns to the court on Wednesday when it travels to FDU-Florham for a 6:00 p.m. MAC Freedom contest.
