Klose's Homer, Presto's Strikeouts Highlights Day One Split for Softball
CLERMONT Fl. –
Megan Klose's two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth and
Juliana Presto's career-high 13 strikeouts lifted the Arcadia University softball team to s 5-2 win over Eastern Nazarene College in game one of the team's spring break trip, before falling 4-2 to Ohio Northern University in game two on Friday afternoon.
The Knights stand at 3-3 on the season.
Arcadia opened the scoring in the bottom of the second against Eastern Nazarene when Klose hit a one-out double to center field and scored on
Effie Jamanis' single to center, who moved up to second on the throw home.
Shannon Shea followed with a single that scored Jamanis one batter later, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead.
The Lions tied the score with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth.
Klose gave Arcadia the lead for good when she laced a two-out home run to center that brought home
Nathalia Diianni, who walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a stolen base.
Morgan Tripodi followed with a double, and after Jamanis walked, Shea singled to center bringing home Tripodi to finish the scoring.
Presto earned her first win of 2022 allowing two runs in a complete-game effort, scattering six hits and six walks along with her 13 punchouts.
Klose led the offense in game one, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two rbi's while Shea went 2-for-3 with two rbi's.
Serena Goodridge, Tripodi, and Jamanis all added a hit at the plate for the Knights.
In game two against Ohio Northern, Goodridge hit a two-out double to left before coming in to score one batter later on Klose's double to center, giving Arcadia a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
The Polar Bears tied the score with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Ohio Northern took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Goodridge homered leading off the top of the seventh but the Knights were unable to tie the score.
Brenna Dolan fell to 2-1 on the season in game two, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits across six innings with three walks and two strikeouts.
Goodridge finished 2-for-3 in game two with two runs scored and one RBI. Klose, Jamanis, and
Allison LaRochelle added one hit apiece.
Arcadia returns to action tomorrow when it faces Carroll University at 12:15 p.m. and Capital University at 2:30 p.m.
