Ruger Nets Five Goals Leading Women's Lacrosse over Bryn Mawr
BRYN MAWR, Pa. –
Maddie Ruger found the back of the net five times helping the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team defeat Bryn Mawr College by a 10-5 final in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights improved to 2-5 with the win.
Ruger opened the scoring with back-to-back goals, potting the first one with an assist from
Ashley Starkey. Starkey put Arcadia ahead 3-0 with an unassisted goal at 10:57 of the first quarter.
The Owls got on the board with 5:30 left in the first before
Olivia Poley broke through with an assist from
Morganne Dee as the Knights finished the initial 15 minutes holding a 4-1 advantage.
Dee began the scoring in the second quarter with a tally assisted by Starkey. Bryn Mawr scored the next two goals as the first half ended with Arcadia leading 5-3.
The Owls scored the first goal of the third quarter before Ruger ripped off three straight unassisted scores, followed by a goal from
Skylar Acker. The Knights held a 9-4 lead heading into the final quarter.
Bryn Mawr cut the advantage to 9-5 with 12:40 left in the game.
Sarah Morris finished the scoring, depositing an unassisted goal with 1:44 left in the game.
Emily Griffith earned win, making eight saves for Arcadia.
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they host Swarthmore for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game.
