GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's volleyball team outlasted King's in five sets, 3-2, on Wednesday night inside Alumni Gymnasium.
Five Knights recorded double-digit kills, led by Dylan Zimmerman and Collin Nissley with 15 kills apiece. Zimmerman added 11 digs for a double-double. Anthony Devantier also tallied a double-double with 38 assists and 11 kills.
With the win, the Knights improved to 4-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.
ARCADIA 3, KING'S 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 26, King's 24
Arcadia jumped out to a 13-9 lead, but King's won five consecutive points to take a 14-13 advantage. The teams would fight back and forth through the rest of the set, but the Knights took the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: King's 25, Arcadia 22
King's held a tight 8-7 lead in the frame, but the Knights won four consecutive points, giving them an 11-8 lead. The Knights would hold a four-point lead through the next set of points, but the Monarchs took four straight to tie the set at 17. King's outscored Arcadia 8-5 through the closing stages to take the second set and tie the match at one.
Set 3: Arcadia 25, King's 22
Arcadia led 14-9 In the set until King's took four straight to cut its deficit to one, 14-13. One point would continue to separate the teams until the Knights took three consecutive points to take a 22-18 lead. After a quick two-point run by the Monarchs, Arcadia held on to win the set and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4: King's 25, Arcadia 21
Trailing 12-8, Arcadia won four consecutive points to tie the set at 12. The end of the set was defined by runs as King's took three straight points to take a 22-18 lead. The Knights then went on a 3-0 run to get within a point, 22-21, but King's ended the set on a 3-0 run to tie the match at two.
Set 5: Arcadia 15, King's 13
The Knights jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the final set. King's battled back to cut its deficit to one, 6-5, but five of the final eight points were won by the Knights as they took the victory.
