Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Gwynedd Mercy on the Road
 
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University on the road by a 14-7 final in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Knights improved to 4-3 with the win.
 
Brian Albertsen got the scoring started 90 seconds into the game with an assist from Kyle McLaughlin.
 
Gwynedd Mercy tied the score with 12:15 left in the first quarter before Arcadia scored three more times to take a 4-1 lead with goals from McLaughlin, Andrew Borum from Brady Manion, and Dylan Mann.
 
After the Griffins cut the lead to 4-2 with 5:08 on the clock, Landan Hajek scored with a helper from Borum and Justin Chinici found the back of the net assisted by Billy Burton to give Arcadia a 6-2 lead after one quarter.
 
Albertsen scored off the face-off with an assist from A.J. Dominguez to open the second quarter. Gwynedd Mercy trimmed the advantage to 7-3 but Sean Connolly converted an extra-man opportunity with a man-up goal assisted by Manion as the Knights went into halftime holding an 8-3 lead.
 
Chinici and Connolly (Manion) pushed the advantage to 10-3 with 9:34 remaining in the third.
 
Albertsen notched a goal sandwiched between to Griffin goals with Arcadia holding an 11-5 lead after three quarters.
 
Albertsen (Manion) and Manion (Chinici) pushed the lead to 13-5 to open the final 15 minutes. After a Gwynedd Mercy goal, Burton registered a man-up goal before the Griffins finished the scoring.
 
Manion led the offense with five points on one goal and four assists while Albertsen added four goals.
 
Timmy Fyock earned the victory with eight saves.
 
Arcadia returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to King's College to open Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play at 7:00 p.m.
