Men's Lacrosse Downs King's to Open Conference Play
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. –The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team defeated King's College by a 20-3 final to open Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Wednesday evening.
The Knights improved to 1-0 in conference and 5-3 overall with the win.
James Barretta opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 9:14 of the first quarter.
Alex Herka doubled the lead with an assist from
Ryan Anderson followed shortly after by an unassisted goal from
Landan Hajek.
Billy Burton finished the first quarter scoring with an unassisted tally as the Knights led 4-0 after 15 minutes.
Cameron Mang pushed the lead to 5-0 22 seconds into the second quarter with a helper from
Brady Manion followed shortly after by a tally of Manion's own.
King's got on the board at 13:14 making the score 6-1.
Alex Adamczyk pushed the lead to 7-1 with just under six minutes until halftime with an unassisted score and
Kyle McLaughlin ended the first half scoring with a man-up goal at 1:34 assisted by
Justin Chinici with Arcadia leading 8-1 heading into halftime.
Brian Albertsen extended the advantage to 9-1with 55 seconds elapsed. The Monarchs closed the advantage to 9-2 with 11:56 on the clock.
Manion notched his second goal of the game at 10:52 followed by a
Sean Connolly goal at 8:23. Arcadia continued its scoring barrage with a man-up goal by Albertsen assisted by Chinici to finish the third quarter with the Knights ahead 12-2.
Burton opened the fourth with a man-up goal assisted by McLaughlin just 18 seconds into the quarter followed by another man-up tally from Chinici assisted by
Ryan Anderson at 14:27 pushing the lead to 14-2.
Connolly scored with 9:20 on the clock assists by
Andrew Borum followed by an unassisted goal by Chinici making the score 16-2 with 7:46 on the clock.
Connolly added a man-up goal at 7:14 assisted by Albertsen at 7:14. Chinici (
Chase Stephens), Anderson, and Chinici (Connolly) finished the scoring for Arcadia.
Timmy Fyock earned the win in net, stopping 16 shots before being replaced by
Cole Dexter, who made one save over the final 9:50.
Chinici led the offense with six points on four goals and two assists followed by Connolly, who registered three goals and one assist for four points.
Arcadia controlled possession, going 17-8 in the face-off circle led by
A.J. Dominguez (9-11) and
Brett Sciascia (8-13).
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they will host Lycoming for a 1:00 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
