Albertsen's Career-High Lifts Men's Lacrosse Past Widener
GLENSIDE –
Brian Albertsen notched a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists to lead the Arcadia University men's lacrosse team to a 17-5 victory over Widener University from Jean Lenox West Field in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Knights improved to 2-2 this season.
Brady Manion got the scoring started with an unassisted goal at 9:33 of the first quarter.
Justin Chinici doubled the lead with an assist from
Kyle McLaughlin at 6:29 followed by a score from
Sean Connolly assisted by
Landan Hajek at 2:10 to grow Arcadia's lead to 3-0.
Widener got on the board at 1:15 of the first, which is where the score stood at, 3-1, after the first 15 minutes.
The Knights continued building their lead early in the second. Manion tallied a man-up goal assisted by Albertsen,
Billy Burton scored unassisted, and Albertsen broke through unassisted. The Pride finished the first-half scoring at 3:37 with Arcadia leading 7-3 after 30 minutes of play.
Manion and Albertsen scored the first two goals of the second half before Widener got its first goal of the half making the score 9-4 with 9:32 on the clock.
Five straight goals by the Knights put the game out of reach. Albertsen scored with a helper from Manion, followed by
Wesley Sporer assisted by McLaughlin.
Andrew Borum got into the scoring column with an assist from Albertsen, and
James Barretta scored a man-down goal with 1:11 on the third-quarter clock as Arcadia held a 13-4 lead through 45 minutes.
Manion started the fourth quarter with a man-up goal followed by Burton's second goal, assisted by McLaughlin. The Pride scored their final goal with 6:08 left in the game. Albertsen and
Ryan Anderson ended the scoring, with Anderson's man-down goal coming off an assist from
Timmy Fyock, the first assist of his career and second point.
Fyock stopped 15 shots to earn his second win of the season.
Manion finished with six points on four goals and two assists.
Brett Sciascia finished 9-of-14 on face-offs while
A.J. Dominguez wont 5-of-10 attempts.
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they face Eastern University for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game at Jean Lenox West Field.
