WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Arcadia University softball team swept its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) doubleheader with Lycoming on Sunday afternoon. The Knights took game one, 9-1 and followed that up with a 15-2 victory in the second game.
With the two wins, Arcadia improved its record to 20-5 overall and 7-1 in conference.
In game one, four Knights had a multi-hit game. Nathalia Diianni, Allison LaRochelle and Madi Costigan had two hits, and Effie Jamanis had three hits. Costigan had a career-high four RBI's to lead the Arcadia offense.
Brenna Dolan got the start in the circle and pitched a complete game, only giving up four hits and one earned run. She struck out for batters in her seventh victory of the year.
In the second game, nine different Arcadia players had a hit. Costigan went 3-for-3 and had two RBi's. Julianna Presto went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Grace Caldwell, Taylor Sommer and Diianni all had three RBI's and Jamanis and LaRochelle joined Costigan with two RBI's.
Presto pitched in game two and had a complete game victory for her 13th win of the season. She gave to earned runs on six hits, and struck out six.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lycoming scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early lead.

The Knights scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good. LaRochelle brought home a run with an RBI single, Costigan then brought home two runs with a single and Diianni closed out the scoring with an RBI single of her own.

Arcadia added two more runs in its half of the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead. Morgan Tripodi brought Serena Goodridge home due to a Lycoming throwing error. Costigan then had a bunt single and brought home Tripodi.

The Knights closed out the scoring in the top of the seventh with three more runs to close out the 9-1 win. Tripodi singled scoring Aleigha Parnell. LaRochelle then singled, bringing home Jamanis, and Tripodi scored on a throwing error to score the final run for the Knights in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning through a Jamanis RBI single.

Arcadia exploded for seven runs in the second inning. Costigan (1), Caldwell (3), Diianni 1) and LaRochelle (2) all had RBI's in the inning to extend the Knights lead to 8-0.

The Knights added three more runs in both the third and fourth innings. Diianni (2), Jamanis (1) and Sommer (3) all brought runs home.

Costigan brought the final run of the day home as she extended the Knights lead to 15-2.
