GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University softball team took both games of its doubleheader against Delaware Valley on Friday afternoon, winning the first game, 4-1 and taking the second, 16-0 in five innings. In game two, Juliana Presto broke the program record for strikeouts in a single season, passing Erin Wilson '16, who had 134 in the 2014 season.
The Knights picked up two wins in its The Hidden Opponent Mental Health Awareness Games, sponsored by Arcadia's The Hidden Opponent Organization.
Arcadia improved its record to 22-5 overall and 9-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.
In the first game, Brenna Dolan picked up her eighth win of the season, pitching seven innings, giving up eight hits, while only allowing one run. She struck out four in the victory.
Serena Goodridge, Megan Klose and Allison LaRochelle all went 2-for-3 at the plate. Goodridge drove home two runs, while Klose and Effie Jamanis each had one RBI. In total, the Knights had eight hits in the opening game.
In game two, Presto broke the program record with her second strikeout of the first inning. In total, she pitched four innings of shutout ball, only allowing two hits, and striking out eight. She now has 141 strikeouts on the season. Paige Nolan entered the game in relief in the fifth inning. She struck out two batters and retired the side in order to close out the victory for the Knights.
Arcadia totaled 19 hits in the second game of the doubleheader. Megan Sooy and Taylor Sommer led the way with three hits, while Goodridge and Jamanis had two each. Sooy, Sommer and Goodridge all drove three runs home in the victory.

Arcadia scored all of its runs in the third inning as Goodridge had a two RBI double, Klose had an RBI single and Jamanis had a sacrifice fly.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Arcadia scored four runs on five hits in the first inning. Goodridge (1), Jamanis (2) and Tripodi (1) all drove home runs in the opening frame.

The Knights score five more runs in the second inning. Sooy had a two RBI single, Sommer drove home Nathalia Diianni with an RBI single and Tripodi had a two RBI triple to give the Knights a 9-0 lead after two innings.

Five more runs came across to score in the third inning for Arcadia. Madi Costigan scored on an error by the Aggie third basemen, Sooy drove home Grace Caldwell on a single, Goodridge scored Diianni on a fielder's choice, Sommer had a sacrifice fly, and then Goodridge came around to score on an error by the Aggie second basemen to extend the Arcadia lead to 14-0.

The Knights scored two more runs in the fourth inning as Sommer and LaRochelle both had RBI singles.
