Box Score 2 CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Arcadia University softball team swept its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) doubleheader with DeSales on Wednesday. The Knights overcame a four-run deficit to take the opener, 8-5, and took the second game, 16-0.
Arcadia improved its record to 24-5, including an 11-1 record in MAC Freedom play.
Trailing 5-1 going into the top of the fifth, the Knights scored seven runs in the last three innings to complete the comeback in the first game.
Nathalia Diianni went 2-for-5 in the opener and drove home two runs. Five other Knights had an RBI apiece. Megan Klose and Madi Costigan joined Diianni with two hits in the opening game win.
Brenna Dolan got the start in the circle for Arcadia, earning a no decision as she threw 4.2 innings, allowing five runs (three earned), four hits and striking out five. Juliana Presto entered the game in relief and picked up her 15th victory of the season, which is tied for the fourth most in program history.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Knights won, 16-0, which is the second consecutive doubleheader that Arcadia won a game by that score line.
Presto got the start in the circle and improved her record to 16-2 on the season. She allowed two hits and struck out six in the victory. Paige Nolan pitched the fifth inning in relief and threw a scoreless frame.
Megan Sooy went 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI's. Taylor Sommer hit a two-run home run in a pinch-hit appearance. Xanthe Jamanis had a career-high five RBI's in the game.
In total, 11 Knights recorded a hit, eight of which had two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

DeSales brought a run home in the home-half of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.

Morgan Tripodi tied the game at one for Arcadia as she scored Serena Goodridge with a sacrifice fly.

The Bulldogs regained the lead, 2-1, in their half of the second inning.

DeSales extended its lead to 5-1 in the third inning as the Bulldogs plated three runs in the frame.

The Knights got two runs back in the fifth inning as Goodridge brought Costigan home with a sacrifice fly. Klose then scored Diianni with a single to cut the Arcadia deficit to 5-3.

Arcadia cut the DeSales lead to 5-4 as Costigan scored on a Bulldog error.

Costigan began the scoring for the Knights in the final inning as she drove home a run with a walk to tie the game at five. Grace Caldwell drove home the game-winning run with an infield single that brought home Effie Jamanis. Diianni tacked on some insurance runs with a two-RBI single, scoring Costigan and Tripodi to extend the Knights lead to 8-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Knights scored two runs in the first inning as Sooy hit her first home run of the game to give Arcadia a 2-0 lead.

X. Jamanis and Madi Costigan had an RBI each in the second inning as they Knights extended their lead to 4-0.

X. Jamanis had two more RBI's to kick off the scoring in the third inning for the Knights. Diianni then had a three-run double and Sooy added another two-run home run to give Arcadia an 11-0 lead.

Sommer gave Arcadia a 13-0 lead with a two-run homer.

Zoey Ritter had an RBI walk and X. Jamanis capped off her career day with a two-RBI double to close out the 16-0 Knight win.
