Presto Ties Season Wins Record in Softball Senior Day Split
 
GLENSIDE – Juliana Presto earned her 17th win of the season, tying the program-record for wins in a season as she helped the Arcadia University softball team earn a split with FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play following a ceremony to honor the three Knights playing their final season.
 
Arcadia stands at 12-2 in conference play and 25-6 overall.
 
The Knights opened the scoring in game two with two runs in the bottom of the first. Madi Costigan reached first on a fielding error and moved to second on a wild pitch before Nathalia Diianni doubled to right center bringing home Costigan with the first run. After Megan Sooy moved Diianni to third with a single, Effie Jamanis flied out to right bring home Diianni on a sacrifice fly.
 
Arcadia exploded in the bottom of the second for nine runs, taking advantage of four Devil errors and six hits. Morgan Tripodi led off with a single to center and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Xanthe Jamanis before Grace Caldwell singled to bring Tripodi home. After Costigan reached on a bunt single that moved Caldwell to second, Diianni singled to center that moved Costigan to third with the help of an error and scored Caldwell. Sooy followed with a double down the left field line scoring Costigan and moving Diianni to third before Serena Goodridge reached on a fielding error that loaded the bases. E. Jamanis brought home Diianni and Sooy with a single up the middle, moving to second on the throw home after Goodridge moved to third. Presto then brough home Goodridge with a sacrifice fly that moved E. Jamanis to third, coming into score on a wild pitch. Tripodi came in to score for the second time in the inning on Caldwell's squeeze bunt after she walked, stole second, and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher.
 
The Knights added on in the bottom of the third when Sooy singled to left, advanced to second, moved to third on a Goodridge single, and came in on an E. Jamanis single to center. Presto the followed with a single to right bringing home Goodridge and E. Jamanis.
 
After FDU-Florham got on the board in the top of the fourth, Serena Goodridge brought home Diianni in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI groundout after Diianni singled to center and moved to third on a Sooy double, with Sooy following her home on a single to left from E. Jamanis to finish the scoring at 16-1.
 
Diianni and Sooy had perfect 4-for-4 showings in game two, with Diianni adding two RBI's and three runs scored while Sooy had one RBI and three runs scored. E. Jamanis went 3-for-3 with five RBI's and two runs scored while Presto and Tripodi added two hits each.
 
Presto tied the program single-season win mark, moving to 17-2 after allowing one run on three hits across four innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts. Paige Nolan finished the game with a hitless fifth inning.
 
In game one, the Devils scored one in the first, one in the fourth, and two in the seventh on their way to a 4-0 win.
 
The Knights had runners in scoring position in the third and fourth but were unable to push a run across.
 
Sooy, Goodridge, Morgan Marchesani, and Caldwell each had one hit in the first contest.
 
Brenna Dolan fell to 8-4 with the defeat, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Presto came in to pitch the final innings, recording all three outs by strikeout.
 
Arcadia returns to action on Tuesday when it will host Neumann University for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
