READING, Pa. - The fifth-seeded Arcadia University men's volleyball team defeated No. 4 Alvernia in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) tournament on Monday night.
Collin Nissley paced the Arcadia attack with 14 kills. Kevin Abraham chipped in for nine kills and Quinn Baily had seven. Anthony Devantier had his third-highest assist total of the season with 35 in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 26, Alvernia 24
The Knights used a 5-0 run to get out to an early 7-3 lead. Alvernia would answer and the teams would play a back-and-forth set for the majority of it. Alvernia led 23-22, forcing an Arcadia timeout. Arcadia would win the next two points out of the timeout, forcing an Alvernia timeout. The Wolves won the next point out of the timeout, but the Knights took the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Alvernia 23
The teams once again played a tightly contested set. Arcadia opened up a 17-13 lead, forcing Alvernia to take a timeout. The Wolves came back to take a 21-20 lead, and led 23-22, but Arcadia won the final three points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3: Arcadia 25, Alvernia 22
The Knights held a lead throughout the entirety of the set as they would go on to win the set and sweep the match to advance to the MAC Semifinals.
