GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team defeated Hunter, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium.
Danielle Doyle led the Knights attack with a season-high 13 kills. Estefania Martinez-Sola recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 15 assists. Kelsi Warner split the setting duties with Martinez-Sola, tallying a team-high 25 assists.
With the win, Arcadia improves to 3-0 at home and 9-2 overall.
ARCADIA 3, HUNTER 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Hunter 20: The beginning of the match was a back-and-forth battle Arcadia grabbed a lead in the match through a 9-3 run, giving it a 17-9 lead. Hunter came back with a 9-3 run of its own to cut its deficit to two points. The Knights closed the frame on a 5-2 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Hunter 25, Arcadia 21: Hunter lost the opening point, but then rattled off three straight. They would never trail in the rest of the set to tie the match at one.
Set 3: Arcadia 25, Hunter 22: Arcadia bounced back from the lost set, opening the third frame on a 10-3 run. The teams would trade runs in the middle of the set until Hunter took four consecutive points to tie the frame at 20. Arcadia answered with a 4-0 run of their own and won five of the final seven points to take a 2-1 lead.
Set 4: Arcadia 25, Hunter 17: The Knights once again began a set with a strong start, going on a 10-4 run. The teams traded points through the middle and late stages of the frame. Arcadia closed out the set on a 3-1 run, winning the match, 3-1.
