Women's Volleyball Earns Third Straight Sweep in MAC Freedom Play with Win Over Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team secured its third consecutive sweep in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play, taking down Lycoming, 3-0, on Wednesday night.  

The Knights improved to 3-0 in MAC Freedom play and 10-2 overall. Arcadia also won its fourth straight match.  

Katie Paoli and Michelle Frank both led the Knights attack, recording 10 kills apiece. They both also recorded a double-double as Paoli had 12 digs and Frank had 11.  

Estefania Martinez-Sola dished out a season-high 29 assists in the victory.  

ARCADIA 3, LYCOMING 0 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • After falling behind 3-1, Arcadia won seven of the next eight points to take an 8-4 lead. The Knights continued to hang onto their lead through the middle stages of the set as the two teams traded points. Lycoming went on a 4-0 run to get within a point, 19-18, but Arcadia took six of the final eight points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  

  • Lycoming once again jumped out to an early lead in the second set, but Arcadia went on an 8-2 run to take an 11-7 lead. The Warriors answered with an 8-2 lead of their own, taking a 15-13 lead. Lycoming widened its lead to three points, but Arcadia took control of the set with a 5-0 run. The Warriors got within a point on two separate occasions, but the Knights took the final five points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  

  • The teams traded points in the opening stages of the third set, but Arcadia went on a 4-1 run, giving it a 10-7 lead. The Knights took hold of the set through a 12-5 lead, taking a 21-12 lead. The teams traded points in the final stages of the set as Arcadia earned the sweep.
