DALLAS, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team won a hard-fought match over Misericordia in four sets on Tuesday night.
The Knights have now won two consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matches, improving their record to 2-2 in conference play.
Alysa Dennison posted a career-high 17 kills in the victory. Estefania Martinez-Sola tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 18 assists.
ARCADIA 3, MISERICORDIA 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Misericordia 14:
The Knights grabbed a hold of the frame with a 9-0 run, giving them a 15-4 lead. Arcadia continued its strong play through the rest of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Misericordia 28, Arcadia 26:
Both teams opened the set on a multi-point run, which led to the Knights holding an early 12-11 lead. Misericordia then fought back, taking an 18-13 lead, but the Knights took four consecutive points to cut their deficit to one. The Knights had a 24-22 lead, but the Cougars closed the frame on a 6-2 run to tie the match at one.
Set 3: Arcadia 25, Misericordia 23:
With the set tied at 13, the Knights took five consecutive points, giving them an 18-13 lead. The Cougars fought back to only trail by a point at 23-22, but the Knights won two of the final three points to retake the lead in the match at 2-1.
Set 4: Arcadia 26, Misericordia 24:
The Knights held a 13-10 lead, but Misericordia went on a 9-1 run, giving it a 19-14 lead. After an Arcadia timeout, the Knights won six straight points, retaking the lead at 20-19. Misericordia then fought back taking the lead at 23-22, but the Knights closed on a 4-1 run to win the set and the match.
