AMBLER - The No. 11 Arcadia University baseball team split its doubleheader with No. 23 Ithaca College on Sunday, dropping game one 10-8 in 11 innings before taking game two 16-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME TWO
-Arcadia opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from
Justin Massielo and a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Matt Donchez.
-Ithaca took the lead in the top of the third with four runs.
-The Knights broke the game open with five runs in the fourth, five in the fifth, and two in the sixth.
-
Alex Madera hit an inside the park home run in the fifth after appearing to catch the Bombers' off guard by hustling home on the play.
-
Anthony Bruno lauched a home run to left in the sixth.
-
Carson Denham earned the win, allowing two unearned runs in 3.1 innings with one walk and five hits.
Nadell Booker earned the save after tossing the final three innings, allowing three runs with one walk and five strikeouts.
GAME ONE
-Arcadia got on the board in the bottom of the second with three runs on one hit with the aid of two Ithaca errors.
-The Knights led 5-3 after seven innings before the Bombers scored four times in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead.
-Ithaca added an eighth run in the eighth.
-Arcadia plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth, tying the score on
Griffin Murphy's first-pitch single through the right side of the infield.
-The Bombers hit a two-run homer in the top of the 11th that proved to be the difference.
-
Zach Steiger took the loss in game one, allowing three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts across five innings.
