Bruno's Walk-Off Home Run Caps Off Baseball's Doubleheader Sweep of Stevens

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Sophomore Anthony Bruno launched a walk off home run over the center field fence in game two to close out the Arcadia University baseball team's sweep over Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) foe, Stevens on Saturday afternoon in Florida.
 
The Knights took both games, 7-6, to improve its record to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play.
 
Bruno finished the day with five RBI's. He also had the game-tying hit in the game one victory for Arcadia.
 
ARCADIA 7, STEVENS 6 (GAME 1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Stevens scored twice in the first inning and twice in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead.
  • The Knights got two runs back in the third inning through a Justin Massielo RBI single. Massielo eventually came home to score on a wild pitch.
  • The Ducks added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 6-2.
  • Arcadia scored five runs in the fifth to give it the lead. Massielo picked up his second RBI of the day to open the scoring. Trey Obarowski then brought Emilio Pallante home with a groundout. Bruno tied the game with a two-run double, which was followed by a Matt Donchez RBI double, which gave the Knights a 7-6 lead.
  • Nick Fossile picked up the win in the opening game. Hunter Sibley picked up the two inning save.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Stevens struck first in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
  • Bruno tied the game at one with an RBI single in the home half of the second inning to tie the game at one.
  • Stevens scored four runs in the third inning, taking a 5-1 lead.
  • Massielo hit his first homer of the year, a three-run home run in the third inning to cut the Ducks lead to 5-4.
  • The Ducks extended their lead to 6-4 in the seventh inning.
  • Ryan Smolen led off the seventh inning for the Knights with a home run to get them within a run. Pallante then walked and stole second, bringing up Bruno. Bruno hit a towering home run over the center field fence to win the game for Arcadia.
  • Fossile and Nadell Booker combined for 4.1 innings of one run baseball. Booker picked up his second win of the season on three innings pitched, striking out four and only allowing one unearned run.
