Power Surge, Pitching Lifts Softball to Sweep of Kenyon

KISSIMMEE, Fl. - Three home runs from Taylor Sommer and Megan Klose powered the Arcadia University softball team to a double header sweep of Kenyon College on Wednesday, taking game one 9-0 in six innings before taking game two by an identical 9-0 final with Paige Nolan and Caity Hinton combining for a shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 9, KENYON 0 (SIX INNINGS)
-Megan Sooy opened the scoring in the top of the first when she doubled to score Madi Costigan.

-Klose followed with a two-run homer in the next at-bat.

-Klose smashed a solo home run in the top of the third, extending the lead to 4-0.

-Sommer launched a two-run homer in the top of the fourth bringing home Nathalia DiIanni after she walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a ground out.

-Sommer continued the homer output with a solo shot in the top of the sixth.

-The Knights scored two more runs in the inning.

-Juliana Presto earned the win, striking out 11 batters in six innings allowing two hits and three walks.

GAME TWO: ARCADIA 9, KENYON 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
-Klose gave Arcadia a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when she singled home Allison LaRochelle.

-Sommer followed one batter later with a three-run homer scoring Klose and Sooy.

-Costigan increased the lead to 5-0 with a dropped sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. Sooy followed with an RBI single that brought Costigan home.

-One batter later, Klose launched another home run scoring Sooy to make the score 8-0.

-Haley Buckley finished the scoring with an RBI single to left scoring Aleigha Parnell.

-Nolan went the first four innings without allowing a hit or walk while striking out two. Hinton finished the game allowing one hit while also hitting one batter.
