GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Nick Alverson as the new Director of Esports. Alverson will begin his duties at Arcadia today, Monday, May 22.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Arcadia University family as the new Director of Esports," Alverson said. "I would like to thank the hiring committee for this wonderful opportunity, and I look forward to leading our program and our teams to great success."
Alverson comes to Glenside after serving as the Head Esports Coach at University of Pikeville in Kentucky for the past three years. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of the Esports program, which included recruiting players on a national level, player development, budgeting, advertising, coaching, and scheduling. Alverson oversaw the League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant and Hearthstone teams. He led his teams to back-to-back Mid-South Conference Esports championships is 2022 and 2023 and won first place in the MSC – KCAC Invitational Conference Showdown. Prior to his work at Pikeville, Alverson was the Head Esports Coach at Mount Aloysius College in Pennsylvania.

"Nick's passion for Esports and relevant experience became clear from the first conversation we had with him and continued throughout the interview process. We are confident that he can continue the upward trajectory that the program has been on lately. Coach Alverson not only wants to see the student-athletes succeed in the gaming space, but also has multiple stories of mentoring his student-athletes for life beyond the collegiate Esports gaming."
Alverson graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science / The Science of Game Design from Full Sail University in 2019.
