GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team fell in three sets to Montclair State on Tuesday night inside Alumni Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Knights fell to 1-4 on the season.
First-year
Alysa Dennison led the Knights in kills with seven. Estefania Martinez-Sola and
Kelsi Warner both recorded double-doubles. Martinez-Sola had 10 assists and 10 digs and Warner had 12 assists and 11 digs.
MONTCLAIR STATE 3, ARCADIA 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Montclair State 25, Arcadia 23:
A back-and-forth start to the frame led to a 15-15 tie. The Red Hawks then won three consecutive points, but the Knights answered with a 3-0 run of their own to tie the set again. The teams continued to battle to the closing stages of the set that saw Arcadia hold a 23-22 lead, but Montclair State took the final three points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Montclair State 32, Arcadia 30:
The Red Hawks started strong in the frame, taking an 11-2 lead. However, Arcadia went on a 15-3 run, giving it a 17-14 lead. Montclair State tied the set at 23 through a 5-1 run. The teams traded points down the stretch until the Red Hawks took the final three points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3: Montclair State 25, Arcadia 11:
Both teams traded points to begin the set, but the Red Hawks took eight straight points, giving them a 16-7 lead. Montclair State continued its momentum through the rest of the set to close out the frame and the match.
