COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University baseball team put up 13 runs as it opened the 2024 season with a 13-3 non-conference wi at Ursinus College on Wednesday afternoon.

Chuck Thielmann earned his first NCAA win in his first game as the Knights' skipper.
FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia improved to 1-0 with the win.
-Ursinus fell to 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights opened the scoring in the top of the first when
Tommy Ajjan began his Arcadia career with a three-run homer, scoring
Matt Donchez and
Anthony Bruno.
-After the Bears put up two runs in their half of the first, the Knights tacked on an additional three runs when Ajjan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded bringing home
Solomon Griffith, followed by a two-run single from Matt Sot that plated Donchez and Bruno.
-
Gabe Diaz brought in
Kevin Wheeler in the fifth with a single to increase the lead to 7-3.
-Arcadia continued adding on in the sixth with four runs, including an RBI double from Wheeler and a two-run double off the bat of Diaz.
-The Knights finished the scoring with two runs in the seventh.
-
Trevor Laraia improved to 1-0 with the win, tossing two scoreless innings.

-Arcadia finished with 12 hits and eight walks.
-Knight pitchers allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out five.

-Ajjan and Diaz combined for seven RBI's in their first games for the Scarlett and Gray.

Aviv Drucker got the start on the mound, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits across two innings.
