LEXINGTON, S.C. - The No. 21 Arcadia University baseball team dropped its spring break opener to Ithaca College by a 6-5 final in non-conference play on Sunday morning.
FOR THE RECORD
-The Knights fell to 6-3 with the defeat.
-The Bombers, who are receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, improved to 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Arcadia opened the scoring in the first with an unearned run.
-Ithaca took its first lead in the third with three runs.
-
Matt Donchez tied the score in the bottom of the third with a two-run double plating
Solomon Griffith and
Eli Savitt.
-The Bombers scored twice in the fourth to retake a two-run advantage.
-Griffith brought home
Emilio Pallante on a ground out in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-4.
-Ithaca regained a two-run cushion in the sixth.
-The Knights got a run in the eighth on a Donchez sacrifice fly scoring Savitt, but were unable to get the equalizer.
-
Hunter Curley took the loss on the mound for Arcadia, allowing five runs on eight hits across five innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
