LEXINGTON, S.C. - Trailing 6-0 after three innings, the No. 23 Arcadia University baseball team mounted a comeback to tie the score in the ninth, but ultimately fell 9-8 on a walkoff to wrap up its southern excursion on Wednesday afternoon.
FOR THE RECORD
-The Knights fell to 6-4.
-Oswego improved to 3-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Oswego scored three runs in the second and third to go ahead 6-0.
-Arcadia chipped away in the fourth when
Matthew Sot and
Justin Massielo drove in runs with a single and double, respectively.
-
Anthony Bruno cut the deficit to 6-4 in the fifth with a two-run double scoring
Griffin Murphy and
Eli Savitt.
-After the Lakers tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth,
Gabe Diaz brought home Massielo with a single in the sixth.
-The Knights tied the score in the top of the seventh when Massielo singled to left scoring Bruno, followed by Sot coming in on a balk.
-Oswego retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh on an error.
-Noah Stenett re-tied the score at eight in the top of the ninth on a wild pitch before the Lakers scored the winning run in the bottom half.
