Men's Volleyball Falls Just Short at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team dropped a tight match to Stevenson in four sets on Wednesday night in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.
 
The Knights are now 13-9 on the year and 2-2 in the MAC.
 
Danny Gonzalez had a team-high 16 kills in the match. Evan Rothmann had a career-high 15 kills for the Knights in the defeat.
 
Riley Kodidek had a double-double, tallying 45 assists and 10 digs.
 
STEVENSON 3, ARCADIA 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: Stevenson 25, Arcadia 22:
The Mustangs won five of the first seven points of the match to take an early lead. The Mustangs maintained a lead through the remainder of the set. Arcadia got within a point at 22-21, but Stevenson won three of the final four points of the frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Stevenson 21:
A back and forth beginning saw Arcadia separate itself from the Mustangs through a 7-1 run, giving the Knights a 20-15 lead. Stevenson then went on a run of its own to cut the Arcadia lead to one, 22-21, but the Knights won the final three points of the set to tie the match at one.
 
Set 3: Stevenson 25, Arcadia 23:
The teams were tied at 14, but Stevenson slightly pulled away, taking at two-point lead at 19-17. The Knights then took the next four points to take a 21-19 lead. However, Stevenson closed the set on a 6-2 run to come back and take the set.
 
Set 4: Stevenson 25, Arcadia 23:
The Mustangs went on a 7-2 run in the middle of the frame, giving them a 16-10 lead. Arcadia fought back, getting within a point at 21-20. The Knights then got within a point three more times before the end of the set but could not get over the hump as Stevenson took the fourth set to win the match.
