Men's Volleyball Downed by No. 17 Misericordia, No. 9 Vassar

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team fell to No. 17 Misericordia and No. 9 Vassar on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium.
 
The Knights are 13-11 on the year and 2-3 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.
 
In the conference match with Misericordia, both Danny Gonzalez and Josh Clendening were in double figures in kills. Gonzalez had 11 and Clendening added 10. Riley Kodidek came up one dig short of a double-double as he had 24 assists and nine digs.
 
Against Vassar, Gonzalez once again led the way with 11 kills. Ryan Miller and Kodidek tied for a match high in blocks with four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: Misericordia 25, Arcadia 21:
The teams battled through the beginning and middle portions of the frame, which saw the Knights hold a 16-14 lead. The Cougars then took the next five points, giving them a 19-16 lead. Misericordia used the momentum from the run to close out the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Misericordia 25, Arcadia 22:
The Cougars took the opening four points and extended their set-opening run to 9-1. Misericordia extended its lead to 16-6, but Arcadia then went on a 12-2 run, including winning nine points in a row to tie the frame at 18. However, the Cougars outscored Arcadia, 7-4 the rest of the way to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 3: Misericordia 25, Arcadia 20:
The Knights held a 13-11 lead, but Misericordia won six of the next seven points, grabbing a 17-14 advantage. The Knights got within two points but couldn't get any closer as the Cougars closed out the set and the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: Vassar 25, Arcadia 15:
Vassar went on an early 6-1 run, taking a 9-3 lead. The Brewers continued to build their lead through the remainder of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Vassar 22:
The Brewers once again had a good start to the frame, leading to a 16-12 advantage. The Knights then took the next six points, giving them an 18-16 lead. Vassar won the next two points to tie the frame at 18, but Arcadia outscored Vassar, 7-4 through the rest of the set to tie the match at one.
 
Set 3: Vassar 25, Arcadia 12:
Vassar took the first seven points of the set and did not look back in the frame as it went on to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
Set 4: Vassar 25, Arcadia 19:
The Knights held a 15-12 lead in the set, but Vassar won the next three points to tie the frame at 15. Arcadia took the next point to regain the lead, but the Brewers closed the set on a 10-3 run to close out the set and the match.
