Baseball Survives Late Push to Win at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Arcadia University baseball team survived a late push to escape with a 10-8 win at DeSales University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Thursday evening.

FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia improved to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

-DeSales fell to 9-11 and 4-3, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-DeSales opened the scoring with a run in the second.

-The Knights took their first lead in the top of the fourth when Justin Massielo and Emilio Pallante hit RBI singles for a 2-1 advantage

-Arcadia increased its lead to 7-1 in the top fo the sixth in run-scoring hits from Griffin Murphy, Gabe Diaz, and Anthony Bruno.

-After the Bulldogs cut the lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Knights pushed across three runs in the seventh.

-DeSales scored once in the bottom of the seventh, four times in the eighth, and once in the ninth but the Knights held on for the series-opening victory.

-Xavier Sjostedt earned the victory, allowing one run on three hits in five innings with four walks and seven strikeouts.

-Cam Nebel notched his fourth save.
