Late Triples Lift No. 20 Baseball in Game One of Semifinals

AMBLER, Pa. - Trailing 3-2 with two out in the bottom of the eighth, Tommy Ajjan and Solomon Griffith hit back-to-back RBI triples to lift the No. 20 Arcadia University baseball team, the No. 2 seed, to a 4-3 victory over No. 3 Stevens in game one of the 2024 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) semifinals at Skip Wilson Field on Friday afternoon.

FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia improved to 30-10 with the win.

-Stevens fell to 24-15.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third when Griffith scored on a wild pitch, followed by Emilio Pallante coming in on a Duck error.

-Stevens tied the score in the top of the seventh on a triple and a single.

-The Ducks took their first lead in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly.

-Anthony Bruno led off the bottom of the eighth getting hit by a pitch, moved to second on a Matthew Sot sacrifice bunt, and scored on Ajjan's triple to right.

-Griffith followed one batter later with a triple over the centerfielders head.

-Cam Nebel improved to 3-1, pitching the final 2.1 innings allowing one run on one hit with a strikeout.

-Will Conroy opened on the mound, tossing the first 6.2 innings, spreading two runs on seen hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
